Vladimir Putin's meeting with US President Donald Trump on the US-proposed ceasefire agreement in Ukraine has been described as "good and productive."

The Kremlin confirmed that Putin and US envoy Steve Witkoff met in Moscow on Thursday evening to exchange information and discuss the US's "cautious optimism" regarding a peace process.

According to Trump's Truth Social post on Friday, there is "a very good chance that this horrible, bloody war can finally come to an end."

However, Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, claimed that Putin's response so far demonstrates that Russia is unwilling to end the conflict.

Zelensky wrote in an X-linked post that Putin won't be able to leave this conflict because it will leave him with nothing.

He is now attempting to sabotage diplomacy by creating extremely challenging and unacceptable conditions immediately, even before a ceasefire.

He claimed that Putin would "drag everyone into "unending discussions, wasting precious days, weeks, and months on meaningless discussions while using his weapons to continue to kill people.

Putin simply says, "Everything is a means of preventing any diplomacy." Russia operates in this manner. And this was specifically warned.

Zelensky claimed that Putin was "preparing to reject a ceasefire, "explaining that Putin doesn't "no" outright in his daily address the night before.

Russia is yet to sign the US-proposed ceasefire agreement, which Ukraine accepted earlier this week
