The first typhoon of the year hit China. The typhoon hit the city of Maoming in Guangdong province early Saturday (July 2nd) morning, according to a statement from China's National Meteorological Agency. News Reuters.

The typhoon, which was moving at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour towards the northwestern part of China, was named 'Chaba'. The hibiscus flower is named after the Thai name.

Chaba's influence has caused heavy storms and rains on the southern coast of the country. Meteorologists in the country's most populous province of Guangdong have warned of record rainfall and a high risk of disaster.

The meteorological office said the typhoon could cause heavy rainfall. Even the record of increasing rainfall may be broken. Some areas are forecast to receive up to 600 millimeters (24 inches) of rainfall.

One person was injured in the Macau Islands due to storms and rains. More than two dozen people are missing in Hong Kong. An engineering ship with 30 passengers on board crashed in the rough South China Sea. More than two dozen people aboard the ship, which was wrecked by the typhoon, are still missing.
