Italy's tourism sector has also recovered from the Corona crisis. More than two lakh expatriate Bangladeshis living in the country have started seeing the light of hope after overcoming the losses. Bangladeshis involved in the hotel, bar, and restaurant business are also happy as the tourism sector is booming.

Tourism accounts for 13 percent of Italy's GDP. Although the population of the country is about six crores, more than six and a half crore tourists visit here every year. Corona lost about 120 billion euros to Italy's tourism industry in 2020. Expatriate Bangladeshi businessmen were at the forefront of the loss index in this sector.

The country's tourism sector is on the path to economic development in 2022 after overcoming the losses of the past. At present, the expatriate Bangladeshis involved in this business are happy with the economic development of the Italian tourism industry.

The tourism sector has suffered the most from the effects of coronavirus worldwide. But in the summer of 2021, a record number of tourists came to Italy. According to the Italian Tourism Corporation, about 30 million tourists visited the country in July and August last year. Of these, 2.34 crore are locals and the rest are foreigners.

In the first wave of the epidemic, Italy was the hardest hit. Although an average of about 65 million tourists visit the country each year, Corona caused a loss of 120 billion euros to Italy's tourism sector in 2020. However, it is expected that in July-August 2021, the number of tourist arrivals in Italy will be around 30 million, which is more than expected, according to the Italian tourism and business research institute CNA.

Travel costs in Italy are much higher than in most European countries. It was very difficult for the expatriates to own lucrative tourism businesses in the country. However, the whole situation changed due to the epidemic. Thousands of tourism-related establishments were shut down in the face of losses

Taking advantage of that opportunity, many expatriate Bangladeshis bought the ownership of these companies at nominal prices in late 2021 and early 2022. As a large number of Bangladeshis are involved in this sector, those concerned think that it will help in the development of the country's economy in the future.
