16 killed in Iran train crash

 At least 16 people have been killed in a horrific train crash in eastern Iran. At least 50 people were injured in the early hours of Wednesday (June 6th). Many of them are in critical condition. News Deutsche Welle.


According to the authorities, there were about three hundred and fifty passengers in the train. The condition of the rest is not yet clear. The condition of several of the injured is critical. The train derailed on its way from Tehran to Tabass. 4 out of 6 bogies fell from the line. The rescue operation was delayed as the accident site was uninhabited. The injured were taken to a hospital about 50 km away.




 



 The cause of the accident was said to be a collision between an excavator and the train. Authorities said the excavator was working to repair the railway line.
